Thank you for this wonderful site! It's fun to view and reminisce, but I need to make a minor correction. One caption said these Rock Island tracks were used into the 1960s, but it had to be earlier than that. We moved to Clayton in 1959 (just east of this photo), and the tracks were evidently long gone. I remember one day when I was walking along the old right-of-way behind Neisner's dime store on Forsyth, and you could still see the wooden railroad ties in the ground, but the rails hadn't been there for quite a while. I wish I'd taken more pictures back then!

From reading elsewhere on the history of this line, I believe real service thru here was discontinued in 1939.
